The Miles 4 Melanoma Pan-American Ride is being done to promote awareness of melanoma, and to raise funds for The Melanoma Research Foundation to support their mission of melanoma research, advocacy, and education.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, OhioThe ride begins in Cleveland, Ohio on August 24, 2008. The riders will likely follow the Underground Railroad Bicycle Route to reach the Gulf Coast near Mobile, Alabama, then continue west then south through Texas.

The route will wind south of the US border through Mexico, and then continue through the Central American countries of Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.

The riders will follow the Pacific Coast of South America through Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Chile, and until finally reaching Ushuaia, the "Southernmost City in the World," which is the capital of the Tierra del Fuego province of Argentina.

The complete journey is expected to take approximately eight months.
